Hague in the news for wrong reasons?

Just a personal note.  I don’t think I’ll be the only person – from whatever political party – who’s been irritated at some media coverage this last couple of days.  Isn’t all this stuff presently in the national news about William Hague utterly irrelevant and just so typical of the gutter?  And isn’t the gutter stretching itself to media that should know better?   I don’t usually want to be kind to Tory leaders but on this issue they should leave him alone.  It’s not news, it’s crass opportunism in pursuit of sales.

But aren’t they onto the wrong issue anyway?  With David Cameron eclipsing Margaret Thatcher as perhaps the most reactionary Tory Leader since the Duke of Wellington shouldn’t they start looking for changes at the top and think about bringing William back as Party Leader?   After all didn’t he once say he could quaff 14 pints when he was younger?  Well, let’s be kind to them, with Mr Cameron leading the Tory Party, rocket-like, further to the political right than any leader in living memory surely anyone who can get 14 pints down his neck, and remain numerate enough to know it, would rather improve their intellectual sobriety?
