Seacombe’s Wallasey Central Park romps home again with the coveted Green Flag

13th August 2017

Supporters arrive ready for the ceremony.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the Park users and their committee Wallasey Central Park – situated in Seacombe but serving Seacombe, Egremont, Poulton, Liscard and beyond – has yet again won this prestigious award.

It has been a long, hard path, with a team of dedicated volunteers spending years, and countless hours of their unpaid time, to bring our park – the second largest on Wirral – up to its present condition. During these years those of us who use the park have all “taken our hats off” in recognition of the sterling work done by the professional maintenance workers of our Parks Department.

From Left to the right in the picture are: Terry Bainbridge, Wallasey team leader, parks, allotments, & countryside; Jean Benfield, secretary Wallasey Central Park Partnership; Councillor Janette Williamson; Councillor Bernie Mooney;
Diane Ledder, treasurer Wallasey Central Park Partnership; and Rod Mercer, Central Park volunteer co-ordinator.
