Willowbank ready to open: Fabulous supported housing scheme

6th October 2010

Adrian reports on Seacombe’s absolutely fabulous new supported housing development just off Gorsey Lane

'Housing 21' seems to have emerged as Brand Leader among 'Not for Profit' social housing in this remarkable new development of flats and bungalows known as 'Willow Court.

Built and ready for occupation this is a fabulous new opportunity for over 50s who need supported living.

With 71 flats and bungalows to choose from, next door to the Somerville Medical Centre and close to buses, this new complex also has a shop for everyday necesseties, a hairdresser, a ‘well being’ lounge, and a restaurant.  There is even a launderette and a  room where electric mobility buggies can be brought indoors and parked to re-charge.

Gillian, who manages the entire supported living development, is seen here during a visit by Cllr Adrian Jones.

These dwellings will not remain vacant for long, they are far better than many star rated hotels so ‘well done’ Housing 21.

This is the sort of high quality housing Seacombe has long needed.

On the entry to willow Court there is the modern well equipped medical centre with a pharmacy attached.

With huge picture windows the upstairs flats have superb views over the well laid out private gardens – this one seeing right across the docks with the Anglican Cathedral in the distance.

What our pictures do not show is the high quality of everything inside, from the luxurious carpeting and decor, and comfortable furnishings to the high quality kitchen fittings and bathrooms – some of which are ‘wet-rooms’ ideally designed for anybody with a disability.
