New school site

Adrian and John were out delivering leaflets and meeting residents this morning.
After stopping to speak to some allotment holders they they looked at the site where the new Park Primary School is shortly to be built.
The children are meanwhile using the former Poulton Primary School building until the new school is ready.
Love Lane Allotments
When John & Adrian were out delivering leaflets and talking to residents some plot holders from nearby Love Lane Allotments stopped to chat. They told us about the new Allotment regime that has recently streamlined procedures. It seems several new plot holders are busy clearing their patches and planting winter onions and other crops – such as next year’s broad beans which, we learned, if over-wintered are more black-fly resistant than if planted in February. You can learn a lot from gardeners!
This site has also driven an interesting initiative in which one plot is given over as a ‘Community Allotment’ with raised beds and easy access – an excellent way to introduce the pleasures of gardening to people who might otherwise not easily be able to take part.
Dog ownership in our locality.
Today, Saturday, John and Adrian were out delivering information leaflets and knocking on doors.
Several people commented on our recent website article - drawing attention to the need for responsible dog ownership and for owners to clean up after their pets.
Adrian has been asked to draw attention to a couple of ill trained dogs whose owners habitually allow them to roam completely out of control and attack other dogs in our parks; the police CSOs are keeping a cafeful watch for incidents of this sort. If a dog’s not trained, it’s the owner not the dog who should know better.
This picture shows the dreadful injuries inflicted by an ill trained bull terrier (on Egremont Promenade) whose owner could not control it. It had bitten half of this tiny Yorkie’s foot off while its lady owner bravely struggled to protect it. Her hand was bitten, too, before the attacking dog could be restrained.
That dog should never have been so badly kept that it had become aggressive – but it was its owner who was to blame for its behaviour.
