Tories defeated heavily in by-election
Labour’s Will Bain comfortably cruised to victory in the Glasgow North East by-election.
Despite fanciful predictions that the far-right British National Party would do well, it came in hopelessly last failing to even retain its deposit. It’s mere 1,013 votes seemed a disgrace. With only 1,075 votes the Tories were almost equally disgraced and only narrowly missed the wooden spoon.
In his victory speech, the Labour winner Mr Bain declared: “This is a great day for Labour. This by-election has been about many things but most of all it has been about jobs and the economy.
