Water leaks? No problem!
26th June 2010
It seems as though water is so plentiful that leaks of this magnitude can be left for weeks at a time!
Local residents have reported it. Cllr John Salter has taken it up. Now we have asked the Borough’s ‘Streetscene’ professionals to add their weight to the request to have the Water Company do something about it – or let us all know if they don’t think it’s their responsibility. But at a time when the reservoirs are getting low and a hose-pipe ban is already being talked about isn’t it time that these ‘privatised’ bodies moved just a bit quicker to protect our resources aswell as their profits?
And despite multiple complaints it isn’t even fenced off for safety.
Longest Day
20th June 2010
‘All Blessings’ to our readers for the coming Summer Solstice.
Stonehenge, our most famous monument, rightly takes the main news. Adrian recalls childhood visits to watch sunrise from a pre-historic hill fort on the summit of a mystical Welsh mountain in Gwent, known as ‘Twm Barllwm’ (sometimes spelt ’Twm Barlwm’) – if it wasn’t raining!

If our readers have reminiscences of favourite local spots that have featured in the summer solstice we would love to publish them in our ‘comments’ link.
Seacombe – and beyond.
24th March 2010 – later in the day.
Adrian regularly takes his Welsh Collie and English Springer (no bias there!) to Vale Park.
When New Brighton Labour activist Pat Glasman drew his attention to vandalism of the Victorian Shelter at the bottom of the park, just opposite the war memorial at the
foot of Magazine Lane, he went down to take some photographs. The damage was pretty awful!
Inside the shelter rows of lower tiles have been kicked off the wall and others have been damaged. It seems that some mindless louts are having ‘lotsa fun’. Some of the vandalism is seen here.
