Granny tax 2? Fears elderly will be hit again as state pension is set to be taxed at source “Mail online” reports

Advisers to George Osborne are calling for a new ‘granny tax’ that the ‘Mail online’ warns will fuel public anger at the Government’s treatment of the elderly.
Cllr PatGlasman is concerned that the proposals could according to this report cause cash-flow difficulties for pensioners who are already struggling with  cuts in winter fuel allowances and rising food prices.  Pat says:  “This report makes worrying reading.   When the Tory-led government is giving the super-rich huge tax advantages how do they expect pensioners, and pensioners’  families, to react as they read this report?”  See it in full by clicking onto the link:  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2127157/Granny-tax-2-Fears-elderly-hit-state-pension-set-taxed-source.html

New Brighton Labour Candidate Rob Gregson says: "In my ward we have pensioners on a wide range of retirement incomes. What they don't need is anything that's going to cause cash-flow difficulties."

Seacombe's Cllr John Salter, who is standing for re-election, says: " The last thing retired people in my ward, many with only the basic pension, need is cash-flow problems, especially when they see this government rewarding the super-rich with tax cuts."

Offensive graffiti

This is by no means the worst - some is particularly offensive

Rob has been busy responding to residents’ concerns involving a number of grot spots that have appeared with particularly offensive graffitti.   The example in the picture is in the children’s playground on the Tower Grounds; it is by no means the worst.

Rob and the team ensured this was cleaned up.

Graffitti of this nature will be cleaned up within 24 hours if anybody noticing it clicks Streetscene: 0151 666 5256   Or contact Rob and the Action Team on 0151 639 6879

But Rob has constantly had residents telling him about graffitti at various locations as he has been walking around the ward knocking on doors. One that he had removed recently was behind the new Marine Point developments, on the seafront, and that example was particularly offensive.

New Brighton Seaside Town welcomes very different Easter visitors – a white bunnie and a black swan!

Pat gives 'thumbs up' to the Easter Bunnie on a chilly seaside day

It might have been a typically cool Easter in England but Cllr Pat Glasman reports that visitors to New Brighton discovered it is an all year, all weather, destination.

A rare visitor to the lake, caught on camera by Cllr Pat Glasman.

The Easter Bunny had organised a free Bunny Hunt around the Marine Lake and we had a very special visitor on the lake: a Black Swan! So children got free sweeties when they had collected the names of the 12 Bunnies and they had a chance to see a rare Bird.
